Cycling Merit Badge 22 Mile Ride

www.Troop626.org

This summer a half-dozen scouts from the troop worked on completing the mountain bike portion of the cycling merit badge. In order to complete the requirements, scouts had to ride several different distances, the longest of which was 22 miles long. This ride was completed on 8/24 and was a  grueling, 6-hour ride. They started by riding the entire Grand Ridge Trail system from the bottom up to Duthie Hill mountain bike park, where they took the Boot Camp trail, then they rode up to Cascade Ridge elementary school where they took a short pit stop. After that they continued to Soaring Eagle park, where they rode the Pipeline trail to its end. From there, they turned around and headed back to the bottom of the Grand Ridge Trail the way they came, stopping again at Cascade Ridge elementary school for a short rest. Thanks to Mr. Hanley for organizing this fun but tiring ride!
