At our April 13 and 20th meetings, Mr. Hsia and Mr. Black organized a two-part Job Interview Skills workshop for our Troop. The first date was the workshop where instruction was provided on interview skills. Then, on the 20th, each Scout underwent a mock interview with parent volunteers who served as "potential employers".The activity helped the Scouts practice getting in front of people and expressing themselves in a positive manner. For their mock interview, each Scout chose from 5 different "jobs" and prepared for an interview as if they were applying for that job.
- Lawn mowing
- Newspaper delivery boy
- Selling game systems such as Nintendo,
Xbox , ets - City Parks activity coordinator
- Patrol Leader/Troop Guide
The Scouts learned the following tips on a having a good interview (The 2 Ps, Presentation and Preparedness)
Presentation:
- Being neatly dressed and groomed
- Good handshake and greeting
- Being pleasant and inquisitive
- Make sure your voice projects
- Make good eye contact at all times
Preparedness:
