On Saturday, May 24th, Alex Wheatley had his Eagle Scout project, which was to install dog waste bag dispensers along a trail system at the Seattle Humane Society facility in Bellevue. Thirty eight volunteers came to help out. The group received compliments from the Humane Society staff.

Scouting for Food

On March 15th and 22nd, scouts met at St. Madeleine Sophie to participated in our annual Scouting for Food event, which benefits Hopelink. It was organized by our assistant scout master, Mr. Chu. On the first day they drove around the Newport neighborhood handing out flyers so the next week they could come and collect any food donations. All told, the troop collected 450 lbs. of food that goes to families in need.

Bike Outings

On May 10th and 26th, a group of scouts met to work on the cycling merit badge. We met at Cascade Ridge Elementary School, where we biked to Duthie Hill Mountain Bike Park and went on the Boot Camp and Grand Ridge trails, while learning a lot of important skills to use while mountain biking. They were very fun outings, organized by Mr. Hanley.

Dmytro Banin Eagle Project
Hey guys, as some of you may now, I had my Eagle Project recently on April 19 and April 27.
We collected food donations for the Seattle Humane Society and overall came up with 300$ worth in donations!
We were passing out flyers in the Newport Shores area one weekend, and the next continued to collect the donations.
I would like to thank everyone who helped out, and made this project possible. There were heap loads of donations and without everyone from the troop who came to help out whether they were a driver or a scout this project would not have been possible.
Thank you everyone for a great two weekends of community service!

Igor Banin Eagle Scout Project.
On February 8th I had my Eagle Scout project. A total of 16 people came to help me put together and implement 9 birdhouses at Hazelwood Park.
The project started off at 9am, where we put together the birdhouses at the Lake Boren Park shelter. It was a little chilly, but we finished putting all the birdhouses together by 10 am. About half the people left and the other half got into a carpool to get to Hazelwood Park. By the time we got everyone who was left over to Hazelwood Park it was about 10:30 am, we quickly got the gear and set out to walk the trail and put up all the birdhouses. We finished putting up the last birdhouse and got back to the parking lot about noon.
We then had some pizza and everyone got in their cars and drove off home.
Thanks to everyone who came to this Eagle Project, all the help was greatly appreciated.

Tiki Torch Snow Outing
On January 18 through 19, a group of scouts went to Snowqualmie pass for their annual Tiki Torch campout. There they set up tents, and went sledding for most of the day. For dinner, they cooked their meal with brand new stoves, and sat by the fire. A few went out on a short hike to explore the rest of the terrain, and others went sledding. Went they woke up the next day, they took down their tents and left. Overall the campout was a success, and it was very fun, except for the cold.

Troop 626 Annual Tree Sales
Boy Scout Troop 626 of Bellevue will be opening their 31st annual Christmas tree sale on Friday, November 29th, at the upper lot of Newport Hills Swim and Tennis club, located at 5464 119th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98006. The freshly cut Christmas trees are grown from a local farm on the Olympic Peninsula. Troop 626 is providing Douglas and Noble fir trees, and sturdy tree stands for a supplemental cost. Wreaths made by local Girl Scout Troop 50847 will also be available to purchase. Enjoy hot cider and candy canes while searching for an ideal Christmas tree. All proceeds from the Christmas trees and wreaths provide general funding for the Boy and Girl Scout troops. The lot will be open from 9 am to 8 pm on weekends, including Friday, November 29th, until Sunday, December 15th, and on weeknights from 5 pm to 8 pm.
